Andrea M. Maccarini is Professor of Sociology at the University of Padova (Italy, EU), Department of political science, law and international studies.
His research interests lie in social theory, education and socialization processes, macro-sociology and cultural change.
He has been a visiting scholar in various Universities, among which the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Boston University, and Humboldt-Universität Berlin.
He is a board member of the International Association for Critical Realism. He has been the Italian delegate at OECD Centre for Educational Reform and Innovation (CERI), 2012-2019. At the OECD he is currently a member of the expert group for the study on social and emotional skills.
He is a member of the Editorial Board for various journals of sociology and the related social sciences. He is Co-Director of two book series: IES – Innovazione, educazione e società (Franco Angeli) and Realismo sociologico (Rubbettino).
